Lydia Hicks is an Australian artist based on Guringai Country in Avalon Beach, Sydney. After starting her career in sculptural textiles and graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, she spent two decades in Special Needs Education before returning to painting.

Her work focuses on the relationship between built forms and the sea, especially Sydney’s ocean pools. With clean lines, simplified shapes and refined colour palettes, she creates bold compositions that explore the balance between concrete and water, evoking memory, stillness and a sensory connection to the coast.
