Artwork By Lydia Hicks
Hand Crafted by Weapon Surfboards
The Frankie celebrates the deep connection of the Gonsalves family to Palm Beach. Named after Francis Gonsalves, Caressa’s grandfather, the board honours the family’s role in the area’s maritime history. Francis famously helped blast through the headland with TNT to create the Palm Beach Rockpool, now an iconic site on the Northern Beaches. The deck artwork by Lydia Hicks depicts the rockpool, capturing its history and enduring presence. The board was handcrafted by Marcus Gray, founder of Weapon Surfboards, who has shaped boards for 25 years. Through his Graybird label, he creates retro-inspired designs. This 6’ single fin is based on a 1970s template, with a deck panel airbrush spray, glassed-in fin, and resin gloss finish. Lydia’s artwork is encapsulated within the resin, merging surf craft and fine art. Equally at home on the wall or in the water.
Custom surfboards featuring Lydia’s artwork can be commissioned on request.
